About me
I received my BA in English Language and Literature from Peking University in 2000, MA in Linguistics from Peking University in 2002, and PhD in Linguistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007. I joined Emory in 2007.

Current Projects
- Developing Chinese Orthography as Cultural Identity, a new course that examines the linguistic, social, cultural, and artistic roles of the Chinese writing system in Asia
- Creating Chinese character-writing videos for Elementary Mandarin Chinese courses and researching on the impact of visual stroke-order instruction on students’ learning of writing Chinese characters
- Creating Chinese Language and Culture Podcast Series on iTunes U, including “A Brief Introduction to Pinyin,” “How to Consult a Modern Chinese Dictionary,” and “The Secrets of Chinese Languages” (more episodes in preparation)
