Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant
Modern Languages Building, 119
Kai Jing received her B.A in English from Taiwan. Prior to being a FLTA at Emory, she has taught a variety of Mandarin courses to students from diverse cultural backgrounds, levels, and ages. In 2018, she taught Mandarin in a local high school in Panama where she found her passion for teaching Mandarin and exploring and sharing her culture with her students. After a year in Panama, Kai Jing began to pursue her M.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. Her research primarily addressed Chinese character acquisition since most students struggle to recognize and remember Chinese characters. She also taught a few Chinese language programs in Taiwan during her time in the graduate school. Her students were mostly youth from all over the world, such as Rotary Youth Exchange, NSLY for Youth, Summer Chinese camps for Japanese students, and a Chinese program for Indonesian students in ChungShan Industrial & commercial school. Having been selected as a Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA), Kai Jing is looking forward to engaging more with students and Chinese programs in Emory.
