Opportunities for academic excellence

Students interested in studying Japanese language, literature and culture are encouraged to take part in Emory's rich offerings in research and academic inquiry.

Emory Scholars

The Emory Scholars Program for First-Year Students grants scholarships to students of exceptional ability. Students are nominated by their high schools or by the Emory Admission Committee. Call 404-727-6036 or follow the link for more information.

Honors in Japanese

Japanese majors with a GPA of 3.5 or better may take part in the Honors Program. Students spend their final year at Emory planning and writing a long research paper; Honors graduates receive the designation cum laude (with honors), summa cum laude (with high honors), or magna cum laude (with highest honors). Assistance and support for students

Tutoring and general academic support

The program provides tutoring in Japanese language; for our other classes, a variety of opportunities are available.

Japanese tutoring - work with advanced peers outside of class.

General academic support - help of various kinds, including science and math reviews sessions and collaborative study.

Writing center - help with writing papers.
