Ji-Eun Lee (Ph.D., Harvard) joined Emory University in 2026 as the Korea Foundation Endowed Associate Professor of Korean Studies. Previously, she served as Dean’s Distinguished Professorial Scholar and Associate Professor of Korean Language and Literature at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Lee’s research focuses on Korean literature and women’s literary traditions from the 19th to the 21st centuries, covering topics such as women and gender, print culture and book history, memory and postmemory, and travel and domesticity. She published Women Pre-Scripted: Forging Modern Roles through Korean Print (2015), Korean Sinitic Poetry from Ancient Times to 1945: Si in the East (co-edited with McCann and Lee, 2024), and a translation of the prize-winning novel I Met Loh Kiwan by Cho Haejin (2019). She is the recipient of grants from the Academy of Korean Studies, the Northeast Asia Council of the Association for Asian Studies, and the Literature Translation Institute of Korea.
